There is nothing better\u00a0in the world\u00a0than spending time with your family on the weekend.\u00a0 In this modern world, the word \u2018Family\u2019 means different things to different people.<\/p>\n

Dogs in particular love to experience new things and go new places.\u00a0 They love to\u00a0sniff every tree, check their \u2018wee-mails\u2019, roll in the grass,\u00a0paddle at the beach, fetch a stick!\u00a0 You can see how happy they are by the smile on their face and the wag of their tail.<\/p>\n

As well as being a fun way to spend your weekend, it is important to the well-being and health of your dog to get out of the house or backyard and experience new things.<\/p>\n

If your family includes\u00a0four-legged members, here are some ideas to get you out and about.<\/p>\n

  1. Have a walk along the beach<\/strong> \u2013 most dogs love to paddle, or swim, with a big roll in the sand afterwards.\u00a0 Chasing seagulls or staring out to sea is also a favourite seaside pastime.<\/li>\n
  2. Go to a dog-friendly caf\u00e9<\/strong> \u2013 there is nothing better than sitting in the sun with a nice coffee, pot of tea or a crisp chilled wine with your pooch sitting\u00a0beside you.<\/li>\n
  3. Go for\u00a0a drive in the country<\/strong> \u2013 many dogs love to go for a ride in the car.\u00a0 Whether they stick their head out the window and catch the breeze, or snuggle up and \u00a0dream of a new adventure, dogs are great companions for a road trip. They don\u2019t complain about your choice of music, and they don\u2019t ask \u201cAre we there yet?\u201d!!<\/li>\n
  4. Read a book<\/strong> \u2013 take a stroll to your local park, sit under a tree and read a good book.\u00a0 Your dog will love just being out of his usual environment, and will appreciate you spending time with him.<\/li>\n
  5. Go for a jog<\/strong> \u2013 while this is not for everyone, or every dog, for the more energetic amongst us, a fit, active dog will love nothing more than joining you for a run.\u00a0 You\u2019ll be high on endorphins when you get back, and your dog will sleep for the rest of the day \u2013 win, win!<\/li>\n
  6. Watch a Movie on TV<\/strong> \u2013 if the weather isn\u2019t suitable\u00a0for an outdoor activity, you can still enjoy some special time with your dog.\u00a0 Put on your favourite movie, get some treats for you and your dog, snuggle up on the couch\u00a0and enjoy! You might even indulge in\u00a0a little snooze afterwards!<\/li>\n
  7. Explore somewhere new<\/strong> \u2013 make a point of going somewhere new this weekend.\u00a0 You might be surprised at what you find.\u00a0 And what better companion to share in your new experience than your dog?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Of course, always observe\u00a0council regulations regarding on\/off-lead areas, and beach access times (usually vary depending on the season).\u00a0\u00a0 And most importantly, pick up your dog\u2019s poo!\u00a0 Ensure you have fresh water with you, and maintain effective control of your dog at all times.<\/p>\n

    Following these simple rules will ensure you, your dog\u00a0and others around you, will enjoy some time in the great outdoors \u2013 after all, we live in a beautiful\u00a0part of the world, so let\u2019s enjoy it and respect it.<\/p>\n
